Stewart Island shows on some maps as a seck, and many maps don't show it at all. But never think that Stewart Island isn't worth a visit, the Island has over 700 km's of coastline, yet only 20km's of roads, but there are plenty of dirt bikes, horses and other unique ways to explore the island..

Theres a good range off accomodation there, and plenty to do. If you are the outdoorsy type, there's plenty of hiking, recreational fishing and diving, and plenty of people with boat's that would be happy for you to charater them, so they can show you around their place. Seabirds abound near the shores of this island as do many aquatic mamals.

If you are more of a indoors type person, the island has a array of muesums, places to shop, art galleries, and curio shops, and even the odd local bar, the sort of places where everyone know's everyone else, so someone new is spotted straight away, and welcomed into what-evers going on.

Getting there is easy, either by the daily ferry, or flying over from the South Island. You will find plenty to do, and the people fantastic.

This holiday home has fabulous views of Half Moon Bay and the Native Forest Reserve, yet it is just a 5 min walk to the town center and main attractions.
You can take a water taxi to Ulva Island, the only place in the world to view the rare Kakapo parrot and also rare flora and fauna.
If Kiwi spotting and eco tourism are your goal, no worries from here. Plenty of other attractions and diving and snorkelling, too.
