Everywhere in this wonderland paradise you can wander along lake edges, or up mountain paths for hours and not see another living soul, just you, the trees, the birds, and the wonderful deep lakes and rivers and waterfalls. The Southland Area is definitely a photographer's paradise, bring your battery recharger, and plenty of spare memory cards, we took over 10,000 photos in the 6 months we lived in Southland. The Southland Region covers a large area from Fiordland National Park over to Te Anau , down the Catlin’s Coast into Gore , and back to Invercargill. You will see some of the most stunning scenery in the world. From an Ancient Fossilised forest on the Catlin’s coast to mountains that are just too beautiful for words. Their magnificent size and sheer beauty can only be started to appreciate in photos. There’s nothing quite like standing either at the bottom of a mountain looking up from the foot, or on top of one looking down, to put you in your place in this universe.

We live in The Catlins, New Zealand, and run in-depth natural history and wildlife ecotours and offer accommodation options. We also offer both guided and unguided overnight walks on private tracks and creative workshops and conservation work opportunities.
Our ecotourism tours emphasise rare wildlife viewing and nature education. We are tourism award winners, having won the New Zealand Ecotourism Award in 1993 and the New Zealand Activity and Adventure Tourism Award in 1996.
We have three children: a 35 year old daughter(and son-in-law), a 33 year old daughter and a 21 year old son. We are also proud grandparents to two lovely little girls and owners of a dachshund named Cloudberry and a seaside home we built ourselves overlooking beaches, river estuary and ancient forest.
