Waihi is a well known gold mining town. so a visit to Martha Mines, producers of gold and silver is in order then take a look at The Waihi Arts Centre and Museum which has a wealth of knowledge on mettalogy. Mining and Sociology of the area as well a host of other info, Also admire the various art on display in the Gallery. You can take a ride on the train, with The Goldfield Railway which runs daily from a historic station in town out to Waikino Station
Waihi Beach This has very popular but safe beaches for swimming, surfing and boating with boat access available from this area. Bowen Town is only a few minutes drive up the road and this area contains several Pa sites and also Waihi Airport which is housed in a restored Bristol Freighter converted to a theme Restaurant and Cafe A must see while you are in the area.

Rural homestay for 2 adults only, near the southern end of Coronmandel Peninsula. Ideal for motorcyclists on tour or those looking for a quiet restful stopover.

Double bed, ensuite, kitchen, dining area and sitting room, plus outside seating and use of a barbeque. Free range chickens in the gardens, goats in the field, a cat and two dogs, a real home away from home. All fittings are brand new, linen and towels provided, plus orthopaedic bed for a good night's sleep.
