Bondi Beach, perhaps Sydney's most famous and most photographed beach, is close to the city and easily accessible. Hence packed from one end to the other with the body beautifuls and untanned others from spring till fall. During winter the hardy locals take over where the tourists left off, for board and body surfing in the frigid waves or beachcoming, albeit no seashells or interesting whale bones to speak of.
Boys to the north (cruisey) end, gals to the south (topless) end, and couples and others in the middle. Gays and straights, locals and tourists. Everyone loves this crescent of sand with myriad shops and eateries along the main drag called Campbell Parade.
There's a 30-minute walk around the headland (sandstone cliffs above the shoreline) from Bondi Beach and the neighboring Tamarama Beach. It's considered "one of the world's finest coastal walks." Feel the sea breeze and taste the salt; you'll marvel at the view, and feel full of regrets if you don't do it!
